A Letter from Aura

For years, people called me strong.

They meant it as a compliment. But what they saw as strength was often armour. I had become so accustomed to surviving that I no longer knew where survival ended and I began.

Single motherhood is where my story began. But the label often seemed to tell people more about the man who wasn’t there than the woman who was.

It made my relationship status the headline of my identity. Meanwhile, the woman underneath it—the woman raising a child, building a home, earning a living, carrying dreams and trying to find her way back to herself—became almost invisible.

I built The Single Mom Village to change where the story begins.

Here, men are decentered. Your relationship status does not determine whether you belong. You do.

This is not a place that tells women whether to stay, leave, date or remain single. It is a place for becoming visible to yourself again—for creating peace, caring for your body, building financial freedom, protecting your home, loving well and remembering that your dreams still belong to you.

I am not writing to you from a finish line. I am building this Village while living these words, too.
